The Douglas College Royals Men's Soccer team came up just short on a wet Saturday night in Squamish, falling to the Capilano Blues on penalties.
Douglas took a 2-1 courtesy of Ayman Sahmuddeen and a beautiful free kick courtesy of captain Matteo Falcone. Capilano tied it up late to send it to extra time, where the Royals battled to send it to penalties after being issued a red card.
5th-year defender Filip Capek was the only Royal to score in the penalty shootout.
The loss, unfortunately, marks the end of the season for the Royals. They end their season with an overall record of 6-2-5 and a second-place finish in the PACWEST regular season standings.
