Royals for Provincials: Women's Volleyball Edition
This season the 2022 PACWEST Champions have experienced a lot of changes when it comes to their team.
This season the 2022 PACWEST Champions have experienced a lot of changes when it comes to their team. After losing some of their 2022 Allstars, including last year's PACWEST Rookie of the Year, and some of their 2022-23 line up to injuries; the team has "worked hard" and "stepped up" to accomplish what they have this year according to Jeff Ross in PACWEST Report Card Interview with Ryan Watters.
Currently sitting in 3rd place, just 4 points behind the Camosun Chargers, with 31-22 sets won; the Royals are looking good as they're about to enter Provincials.
Adjusting to a new team is never easy but Women's Volleyball Senior Libero, Logan Richter (#9), let us know that "team-building activities.. really helped them to bond" for the season. For Logan a perk of playing for Douglas has been their ability to come together as a team to support each other. "Every single player that has come through has been like a sister to me… having that sisterhood is just great."
"We play every single game like it's a PACWEST final", says Logan. "[We] have a competitive mindset everywhere we go, whether that’s in the gym or even working in classroom. We're competing against each other and we're really preparing mentally for that PACWEST final."
Jeff Ross is confident and proud of the team, "They're pretty focused on what needs to get done… it will be cool to see them preform in PACWEST."
We wish the team the best luck in provincials! Be sure to visit the PACWEST website for more information about provincials.
