Douglas Women's Basketball Dominate St. Thomas to Cap Off CCAA Nationals with Seventh-Place Finish
The Douglas College Royals finished the 2026 CCAA National Championships with a bang, defeating the St. Thomas Tommies 77-48 to finish seventh in the country.
Douglas was carried on the back of a 21-8 second quarter, which included nine points and eight rebounds from Lauren Clements in the second frame alone. She finished with a game-high 23 points and 18 boards, while Mackenzie Dalphond was named Player of the Game with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Second year guard Denise Mendoza came off the bench to chip in with 16.
The Royals lost their first two games of the championship, a tight 67-62 loss to the Fanshawe Falcons and 63-52 to The King's Eagles on Thursday. This is the second time in three seasons Douglas has finished seventh at the CCAA National Championship, when they defeated the Okanagan College Coyotes in 2024.
