Royals At The Break: Women's Basketball A National Championship Contender Heading into 2026
The Douglas College Women's Basketball team has a lot to be thankful for heading into the stretch run in 2026. With the top ranked offence and second ranked defence in the PACWEST, they are a force to be reckoned with in Canada.
Douglas currently sits second in the PACWEST standings, one game behind the VIU Mariners. They currently sit seventh in the CCAA national rankings, and have been nationally ranked for four consecutive weeks.
A number of Royals also sit high in the PACWEST individual leaderboards. Mackenzie Dalphond is third in PACWEST scoring averaging 13.6 points per game, while Lauren Clements ranks sixth with 11.6. Dalphond also ranks second in rebounding with 9.4 boards per game, while Clements is fourth in assists and first in steals per game. Four Royals have also been named PACWEST Athletes of the Week.
The team's first game is January 9th at home against the Langara Falcons. The PACWEST championships will be March 5th to 7th at Camosun College. Check out all the photos from the season so far here.
